Great Indian Busterd
The Great Indian Bustard is one of the heaviest flying birds in the world, with males weighing up to 15 kg. Once found across the Indian subcontinent, the species is now critically endangered, with only an estimated aprox 100 individuals left in India. The bird faces a range of threats, including habitat loss, poaching, and collisions with power lines.
In the Jaisalmer region of Rajasthan, where the Desert National Park provides important habitat for the bird. As a wildlife photographer and conservationist, I aim to raise awareness about the plight of the Great Indian Bustard and the importance of protecting its habitat. Taking photographs of this elusive bird can be a challenge, as it is known to be easily spooked and fly away at the slightest disturbance. Nevertheless, I consider it a privilege to have been able to capture images of this magnificent creature, and I hope to share its beauty and importance with others through my work.
"The Great Indian Bustard is one of the most magnificent birds on our planet, and it is a true tragedy that it is facing such dire threats. As a society, we must come together to protect and conserve this species and its habitat. It is our responsibility to ensure that the Great Indian Bustard continues to grace our skies and inspire future generations."
